bugsandoil, you are tright, i need to update my sig, there are another 3 cars to add. i'm slacking!

Well i've had it almost a week, I've stopped the oil going into the coolant, the coolant leaking on the floor and the overheating problem. I replaced the factory door speakers as one was dead, I've replaced the "cassette-radio" for a lesser out of date CD-radio. and i've fitted an amp and a sub in the boot space. A chrome tail pipe (with led lights) some neon wire round the dash, new floor mats and a set of new plates cheap off gumtree! too easy!!

same camera, less fuzz!

Well, I've had it for a few months now, i LOVE it!!!
i bought a new hood skin from the states, a local one was $1000, the US was £250 delivered to my door, so far i'm impressed with the quality and detail, i bought the extra tensioner wires as the old ones stretch over time, i can't complain at the price!
I also bought off e-bay aus a square headlight kit, not as easy to fit as i thought, but its done now

round factory lights are ok.

no lights!! i cleaned all the hidden bits!

the square light kit makes it look mean as hell!

In the US the golf was sold as the Rabbit (i dunno why, please educate me!) and the 1.8 gti model was known as the Rabbit Injection. Although the car was never sold with this badge i like it, e-bay UK for this one!

The Golf was called "Rabbit" by VW in the US market to prevent people from assuming that the name "Golf" related to the sport of golf.. didn't work though so when sales dropped in the early 80's it was aligned with the rest of the world and called a Golf. I think they revisited the Rabbit name again in recent years...

I love the early Golfs, especially the cabrio's. You've got a nice one there. Have to say I prefer the round headlights, it's a classic look.

Great collection too!

ALWAYS BUSY, and i spent a couple of days on the Golf, i havent started it in a while, and i found the oil pump had air-locked, so i had to sort that out!
I had a minor mishap a while ago and got a radiator hose punctured, the top hose was a hack job of 2 different hoses to make one, so i ordered a full rad-hose kit from the UK $132 delivered, i was happy with that, its all fitted and the green stuff re-installed!

I also fitted a couple of new toys, From what i hear these things are going to be big in the next few months, Its called a "Lazer Logo Light", basically theres a 3W LED and a lense inside an ally canister. you fit em to the underside of your car door and it shines a logo on the ground when you open the door, they are very effective, and i'm impressed!
I also got my interior light sorted out, it was wired to the car alarm wrong!!

heres a pic of the lighted logo on my driveway!
