QLD P PLATERS BEWARE IN NSW OF LAWS
Remember that it IS illegal in NSW to display a p plate in the rear window or windscreen..
the NSW police also know that You will lose Your licence when charged....
So beware of NSW Highway Patrol cars...
and remove those P Plates..
before coming over the border

You will find that most police are actually tolerant of this difference between states Lee. If they can see you have vehicle registered in an
alternate state they are flexible on plate location, its not the end of the world.

Why I know this, I have a nephew in the police force in NSW
He said the Highway Patrol officers
WILL enforce this Law...
Most ordinary Police will ignore them
but Once over the border..
the NSW Highway Patrol will Book You...
and they know that the QLD or SA etc P platers are NOT breaking the law in their state....
But they are there to UPHOLD the road rules of NSW...
and they will and do...

and It will the end of the world for a P Plater whatever state YOU come from....
it IS a law in NSW....
they cannot really have a law for NSW drivers and one for interstate drivers...
[although it should be an automatic NONE loss of license for interstate drivers]
When I told My sister in Law from Adelaide ..
She said where else can you put a P plate?? lol

I have to agree with this. I get booked all the time when driving the truck to SA. When it comes to my log book if I stay legal in QLD I'm breaking
the law in SA and vice versa. It's a joke and the sooner it's fixed the better. But I do remember many years ago I was booked riding my bike in NSW
without a P plate which at the time you didn't need one in Qld. Nearly spent the night in the lockup over that one after I told the cop what I
thought of that law

the thing I have trouble with is WHY can't you have your P plates inside the car, I would think that as long as they are clearly visable then that's
what is required, how many times do you see P plates stuck behind the number plate with hardly any of it showing, crazy rule !

Those stupid window stick on P plates are usually very hard to see.
Was alright 20 years ago when most P platers drove older cars with almost vertical windscreens and no tinting but these days they give loans to any
little school kid to go out and buy a newer car with an almost horizontal windscreen and dark window tinting making those window ones hard to see.
Its not hard to go to the RTA, get a pile of free P plates and a number plate holder from supercheap.

Im pretty sure that Qld L platers can do the posted speed limit, in NSW learners can only do 80, how do Qld learners go with this in NSW?

My Son was friends with a local highway patrol officer
My Son was a spray painter, and he rode an off road motor bike that was very popular back then..
He was always being pulled up by this cop who couldn't recognize him on the bike...
He was lucky as all the others kids were being booked for having a hidden or partly seen P plate..
as they were all stuck up under the number plate usually..
or they even fell off... lol
another son was always pulled up when driving My car with P plates..
a friends Son never ever displayed P plates and never ever got booked or pulled up... lol
the magnetic ones are OK on the back where there is metal to stick to... and on the bonnet as there isn't any metal on the front these days..
but the metal, now plastic brackets for P plates are very cheap these days... they screw to the number plate and the plates slide in...
a friend of My Wife who only got her licence when she was 50, was getting pulled up for having a P plate on her car.. lol
as she looked too old for a P Plater.. lol

I don't know if QLD etc has the two different P Plates now either..

how many times I have come close to running into some on the highways because they are going so slow, you just can't tell how slow they are til you
are close at which that point you shit your self and try dodge them.

first thing lerners should do is drive their cars to the limits (in a supervised controlled enviroment) to get the proper feel of theirs cars, then
step back to normal road driving.
This should be mandatory like it is in Germany etc...

Trust me, I've had to teach a couple of Learner drivers from scratch who are completely mechanically retarded and don't know the steering wheel from
the boot release.
These are the ones when starting out that you do not want hurtling down the road at 100km/h.
Not everyone gets a feel for a car straight away.

That's why I said " controlled " envorment. It's how they do it in Europe
They teach new driver the limits of their vehicle in a safe envodoment with actual learners car. They get a feel and a taste for what the vehicle is
capable of and also spooks them a little into sense. Then they back off and start from the basics.
As of a result they have the best, safest , fastest drivers in the world with one of lowest fatalities in the world.
Our country's aproch to driving and driver education is all wrong period!
More and more strict regulation is not the answer. Just look and drugs and alcohol and how the government has tried to fix it. It's worse than ever,
same thing has already happen to driving.

NSW Laws are for every driver driving on NSW Roads...
regardless of what P plate You have on Your car..
Tweed heads police station will be able to quote the NSW road laws but its NOT the average police who do this, its the HIGHWAY Patrol..
and everything they do is videoed , so NO warnings anymore.
and their job is to Book people breaking the NSW Road laws.
and that is what they Do... and that is what brings in millions of dollars a year in revenue..
My Son got booked TWICE a couple of years ago when He was driving a 4wd for the first time and at a stop sign the front tyres went on the line as it
stopped.
He was booked for NOT stopping at a stop sign and going over the line. I went to the local police station and they said it was NOT usual to be booked
twice for the same thing.
But that is what they do...

From my prospective it only apparent they are too slow only once I start changing lanes thinking they only going 5 k slower then realizing that really
they are going 30k slower.
It's a bit meaningless to say move to the other lane when someone doesn't realize or expect someone I front to be going so slow, it's quite often
hard to tell what speed difference there is when directly behind the vehicle in question as the car isn't moving relitive to one's view point. I can
relate with a lot of people that this happen to them on a regular basis. Seen it happen to other drivers on the road too. Actually take note what
happens when one person is speeding through traffic on a freeway, then compare it when you see the same scenario but with one slow person instead of a
speeding one. Then comeback here and tell me which one caused more havoc, don't answer that with assumption go take note of your observations.

Yes that is correct Vlad..
there are a lot of Learners on the road at the moment up this way and on a one lane highway they end up with 30+ cars behind them. They should be
told by their instructor [probably their Dad] to pull over now and then to let the cars etc pass them and go back to the 100KMH.. also gives them
some practice at pulling onto the highway... in between traffic...
and I have seen in multi lane roads where slow vehicles really cause a problem and as most large trucks have so much horsepower and torque these days
they also have to change lanes..

Many people complain about speeding P Platers but at least they aren't slowing all the traffic flow down...
