25HP performance- 1946 BEETLE
Here is an interesting factory chart showing the performance of an 1131cc 25 hp Sedan dated 23rd April 1946.
An interesting read to realise how slow they really were.

With 25hp, I'm pretty impressed that they even got to 100km/h. Never mind that it took over a minute!

With cable brakes you don't really want to go fast. I've hit the 100 mark before and I prefer around 85 to 90.
Everything 36HP !
Change over king and link spindles

I just got sent this it states 10 hp for a 1940 model. This would have been even slower.

That HP figure was the old RAC rated HP, that we 'inherited' from England. It was used to calculate tax payable for rego.
It was a ridiculous rating, based on the bore and number of cylinders......nothing to do with engine power or capacity.
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!
