Wiper question?
Hi guys
Having trouble with A.
Finding replacement wiper blades and or assembles for my bug
And b.
does any one have a solution to wipers lifting at speed? I have been trying to find those little squares (name?) that people would attatch to the
wiper arm back in the day to make sure they stay flat. They were almost like there little squares ??
Thanks

new blades and arms available new from VVDS 02-9789-1777
sounds like you need a new wiper arm with stronger spring to make it stick to the screen

I don't think those little clip on bits have been available for many years as You don't need them on most modern cars..
I have seen alloy blades [aerofoil] on late model cars..
but the springs in Your Wiper arms must be worn out and lost tension or the holes where they clip have worn..
Ones in good condition will snap over with a lot of pressure
when holding them in Your hand.. mind your fingers.
so they should have heaps of spring tension..
Left & Right Wiper arms are different too..

Little Squares would be a fun retro look but from memory they didn't really do much. I have a '68 so similar setup as yours (although maybe your
arms bolt on whereas mine are held with a grub screw) and recently replaced the shafts with Wolfsburg West ones, had the wiper motor cleaned inside,
lubricated, adjusted and reassembled by an auto sparky. Wiper arms are NOS ones I bought years ago but havn't had a lot of use. Wipers have never
been this good in all the years I have owned my bug (lots). Agree with the other guys that new arms with proper spring pressure will work really well
unless you have a turbo'd suby motor and drive at warp speed in the rain.
Cheers.....Wayne

Oh those little squares worked alright, had a tech teacher way back who had a Celica, his son bought him a set of wiper thingies asca gift and he
wasvtelling us how stupid they were but he left them on as he didn't want to upset his son by removing them, when we checked the car out we found
that he had them on back to front, the wind presure actualy reduced the wiper pressure on the screen, any wonder he thought they were stupid.
