Just got my oval started yesterday:cool:
Was sitting for 20 odd years!!
Everything is running pretty well idles fine (a bit high ) there is a noise comming frome the front of the engine (i think) if you watch the vid youll hear it its quite loud. Anyone got an idea what would make a sound like this???
Thanks in advance

Try taking the fan belt off for a QUICK ONLY run and see if the noise is still there as it may be just the fan scrapping on the fan housing or shat generator bearings .
Other than that hows the throw out bearing adjusted / clutch adjustment as if thats constantly riding the preasure plate it will scream if dry and stuffed .
Has the motor got eccesive end float , ie if you can grab hold of the bottom fan belt pulley and push and pull anymore than a fraction of movement .04 thou for memory then it has bearing issues .
Lastly , hows the oil in the gearbox as if it's dry then the box mainshaft is spinning with no lubrication which will also cause a few unwanted noises .
Basicully just have a good look around and as it's been sitting for 20 odd years , change all the oils and check the above
