I believe they are the same as type 3 autos
Kombi autos and type 4 autos 411-412 etc
the later being a longer heavier starter motor, bolts the same..

There is 2 different kinds SR17X and SR18X.
Both fit beetles but the mounting angle is different as we found out my SR18X didnt fit my mates auto Kombi, the solenoid hits the fuel tank.

I only found out the difference by accident last week when it didnt fit a mates Kombi.
The 2 look identical but its the mounting hole locations that are different so the SR18X doesnt fit baywindow kombis because the solenoid sits right
at the top and hits the bodywork where the fuel tank is, SR17X leans it over to the side more.
Doesnt become obvious till you put them side by side.
No other difference aside from the 17 is slightly longer.
