Tire Stagger
Hey guys, I was just wondering if you could tell me what a general stagger you guys run on your beetles?
I've got 205/65r15 Rear & 195/50r15 at the moment, is this considered large? Or is it just a personal prefference to everyone?
Just looking at running a set of stock rims soon but will have to get tires for it, not entirely sure what to buy.
Thank you
John.

I have 225/75/16s on the front and will soon have 265/70/16" on the back of my Baja. Currently running 31x10.5x15s on the back. Would like to run
285/75/16s on the back some time in the future.
I'm not sure if offroad sizes are really relevant to your question though Sorry 'bout that!

From front to back I would call it tyre rake. Surely tyre stagger is what they do in speedway to make it turn left, by putting bigger tyres on the
right-hand side.

Not sure if pigs understeer, but if they do......
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!

I run staggard wheels on all my cars
Ghia, front 6 x 16 with a 195/50/16, rear 7 x 16 with a 205/55/16.
Karmann beetle convertable, front 6 x 16 with a 195/50/16, rear 7 x 16 with a 225/55/16.
Early beetle, 7 x 17 with a 205/45/17, rear 8 x 17 with a 235/45/17.
Most porches run staggered wheels along with the appriate tyre size.

On ya Greg, you should know that it's all about digging in ya heels, or in my case, front wheels. Really it handles very well, it's all about
balance and grip and with correct tyre pressures it actually has no understeer, believe it or not but the rear lets go due to a too-big-for-the-rim
fitment on the rear.
Last race day (Raliegh) you never wanted to talk to me.....thought it was BECAUSE of the 135's but may have been my front discs. At least she's a swinger in the rear.

I run staggered tyres on mine depending on what rims I have on it and I'm not normally one to start the whole keep it legal debate, especially with
the shit storms it's stirred up lately,
but one thing to keep in mind, to be legal the front and rear tyre rolling diameter have to be within -/+15mm of each other and within 15mm of stock
rolling diameter.
Those 195/50s on your front are 70mm smaller than stock size which would be throwing the speedo reading out the window, by 12% apparently,
just something to be aware of

Sorry Matt.......I was absorbed in trying to find the problem with No.8 [which turned out to be a broken inlet manifold], and was a bit anti-social.

I hear ya.
That stupid thing in the dash tells me how much fuel i have left when its in a good mood and if I'm high beaming the bunnies before I squish them but
not much else.
I believe the fluttering needle may alos induce a siezure if I look too closely below 40km/h.
