Dry Lake Salt Racers
Went up to the Lake today to see all the VW's run and when I arrived at 9.30,there was only 1 left doing his thing.Glenn Torrens and his team had run
around 124MPH with his big Pobjoy engine, but the elusive 127MPH was their goal.As I was leaving this afternoon, they had put on some larger diameter
wheels and tyres, and had to massage the rear guards for clearance.I hope they got what they were after. Also caught up with Mike Adi who Drag Races the
Supercharged VW powered Gogomobile from Adelaide-he had just run 199MPH on a borrowed Suzuki road bike. You need a big set of nuts to do that stuff.

My personal favorite of the event. Best presented car there I reckon.

I seen Norms AU Taxi run 250mph on the long track.
Not sure what the bug ran. Only seen that take off on a run on the small GPS track.
The first or second day it melted a piston & the guys rebuilt it on the salt.
I think its best up to the week was 117mph with a type 1 engine. I think they were hoping for 120+mph with the 2.6L Type 4 setup.
