[FS - VIC] VW Ascort- SOLD

Hi All,

After much deliberation, I have decided to place my Ascort on the market. Not dissimilarly to other AVDubbers when listing a car, I have bought a new house which requires additional construction (of a garage), hence need the funds for this. This is very unfortunate because I know that I will never find another. These are an extremely rare coachbuilt sportscar.

This is one of 13 cars remaining in existence in the world! And out of those remaining, this Ascort is one of the few that still has the original Okrasa engine. Please see the link to my car in AVD Member Rides http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=102919

All the hard to find parts & gauges are included; one of the window winder mechanisms in the door is incomplete but can be refashioned from donor parts. It has new front and rear windscreens included. The body is in good condition but will require some minor work- some of the paint has been partially removed in different sections giving it the appearance as per in the photos and the body will require some smoothing, but no significant damage or areas of concern.

It has the original Okrasa engine which is out of the car. The carbies, linkages, distrbutor and generator have been removed from the motor and are in boxes and are included- the previous owner took it out of the car and was running a 1600 engine which he removed for the sale. It will need a rebuild but is complete.

I have bought an OG Petri Steering wheel (still need the horn button) and have had the original emblems/badges recut. The car comes with standard 5-stud rolling rims as I sold those on the car in the photos as they were non-original. The seats are custom low buckets that have been handmade and are period to the car; they were in the car when the previous owner bought it in the 70s.

The car is solid and is a resto; the previous owner commenced a resto but did not complete it- he was the second owner and had the car from the 1970s. It comes with its original number plates, the hand-written owners manual and a heap of documentation, books and articles that have been written up on the Ascort.

I have a heap of photos for anyone interested but the car can also be viewed by anyone interested in Blackburn, Melbourne. I have been contacted by some interested parties from overseas prior to listing the car who continue to and I will also be placing the car on Gumtree and probably Samba.

This is a very rare opportunity to own a classic; see Jeff Sable's restored Ascort in VW Magazine Australia Issue 39 to see the end result of a resoration (photo also in the link in my Members Rides link referenced earlier).

Cheers

Craig

I saw Jeff's restored one in Adelaide at Volksfest, just beautiful, would love to see this end up just as nice.
Sadly I am in house saving mode.
Good luck with the sale.
