Country Buggy for sale
VW Country Buggy for sale
Seller’s Name: Paul
Suburb: Rockhampton, Qld
Item Description: Volkswagen Country Buggy KO 200
Condition: Very Good.
Price: $8000
Registration: Fully Registered in Queensland
Paint: Green
Contact: I am working away for the next month so I might not be able to reply right away to this forum so it might be best to email me at my personal
email address countrybuggy@gmail.com
I bought this Country Buggy around 1 ½ years ago (August 2007) and the gentleman I bought it off had restored the car around 8 years earlier. He did
a body off restoration and rebuilt the engine, then used it for a while, but then it sat in the back of his workshop for the previous 5 years from
when I purchased it in 2007. It was very dusty, and stained, and needed parts replaced. I then took the buggy home and cleaned it right up, gave it a
good polish and replaced all the parts that had deteoriated while sitting around.
It passed the Qld roadworthy first time and I have since used it as a weekend club vehicle.
I am selling because I could use the funds for other ventures, but I’m not too concerned if it doesn’t sell. I'll just borrow more.
This isn’t a brand new vehicle so it does have the usual Country Buggy ripples along the body, spot welds showing, and stone chips here and there,
and the paintjob isn’t a perfect job. But there is no rust at all (the previous owner had it removed) and I have gone through every cavity and
sprayed a rust prevention oil, so I doubt there would be rust in the internal cavities. It has also been sprayed underneath with a body deadener.
Work Done
Since I have had the car (to get the original roadworthy in October 2007) I have done the following work:
Brakes: All brake lines and hoses have been replaced, the master cylinder and the wheel cylinders were taken to a local brake shop and were
reconditioned and sleeved and fitted with new rubbers (rather than purchase the cheap Brazilian parts), the 4 drums have been machined and new pads
fitted.
Wheel bearings: were replaced all round.
Suspension Rubbers: most replaced.
Gear Stick: I have had the bushes replaced (or whatever they’re called) on the gear stick because I had trouble finding the gears and because there
was too much slack
Seals: Bonnet and Boot seals replaced.
If I can remember the other work I’ve done I’ll post an update
Current Problems:
Clutch: The buggy might be needing a new clutch kit. I have adjusted it but I think at some stage it may need to be replaced. I guess it depends on
how often you will drive the car.
Head Light Switch: Doesn’t turn on the park lights until the headlight are on. Might need a new switch.
Original Country Buggy parts that are fitted or needed
Engine: Car is running a 1200 engine but it isn’t the original engine. I think the original engines start with an F.
Seats: They are the original seats but they have been recovered in a non original colour and type of vinyl (already done when I purchased the car).
Wheels: The rims are 14” x 6” (should be 15” x 5”). The previous owner did this because it made the car more stable to drive. I also have the
dome hubcaps to suit the 14” rims, but the rims need some new clips replaced to hold the hubcaps on.
Body Panels: I have the original rear ute tray. You remove the rear seat and the tray drops in to make it a ute. I also have the original front
passenger footwell support.
Roof: I have the original soft top roof frames, but I don’t have a soft top. I was waiting for someone on the forum to make one.
Paint: the car is painted green but it’s not the paint code for the original green colour.
I’m not sure what else to say about the car. If you want further pictures or information please send me a PM or email me at countrybuggy@gmail.com .
As I said earlier this isn’t a concourse condition car (it would be worth a lot more if it was), but it is a very good example of the Country Buggy
and presents very well and it is a very good usable classic. All you really need to do is get a roof made.

Ohhh I am in soooo much trouble...
Nah is all good - the previous owner was was a mate who passed away not long after Paul bought it - so the wife understands why I liked that car.
Though I can see the sale of a Kombi Ute ....

Paul,
Great job cleaning the CB up!
It's a great looking car and would make an primo daily driver if that's what someone has in mind for it.
Sorry to see your buggy go down the pike, but at least you have offered it here in the CB Forum, so anyone who is tuned in and interested can have a
chance to make you an offer.
I'd say its a hell of a deal and priced right!
8,000.00 AUD = 5,620.78 USD
If that were here in the US, I'd probably be knocking on your door about now.
Peter.....so you are going to buy this?
As I recall you had another CB you parted ways with not so long ago, right?
I guess they are in your blood eh?
Just had to have another one, I guess!
Regards,
Steve

Lee,
It may well be.
Here's one that's for sale here now that Bill and I refer to as "The Memphis CB".
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=656253
9,163.00 USD = 12,923.08 AUD
We both feel this one is way over priced......but then again, it is here in the US, and they are very rare birds here.
Regards,
Steve
