Dub noob - fastback resto

Hey there - nice little community you got goin here!

new to the dub world (haven't even popped the cherry yet) but doing my research.

Seen a few 1600 fastbacks around at good pickup prices but finding it hard to source info on the resto costs.

What I want to do is chop top and lower a type 3 fastback, custom paint and trim and auto trans conversion.

If anyone has done any of these or similar then I'd love to know ballpark prices.

attached is the dream result.

Who are the best people to start with on a job like this in Melborne metro?

thanks in advance.

hey dude.

Like your vision, early fastbacks are great.

the first question has to be - How much cash is your budget? 5k...10k? 20k? The ball park will stretch to as big as your wallet .

Heres an example .
Ive just about got my 73 fastback on the road. I bought it for 1 grand. Empi 8 wheels and tyres, 1300. Then I bought all tools, HVLP gun, compressor and did all the body work and paint myself. First timer too. That was - including paint...hmm $700?
Doesnt cost anything to lower which is awseome. I got a little help

So i have a car thats low and decent finish for 3k

But all the running gear is average and interior is crap.

To pay a panelbeater - obviously in 2k and better finish - minimum -5 grand ... PLUS.

So I could have spent 7k or more on a car that still doesnt run great or interior shot.

To drop the roof? No idea myself - but id guess - GUESS ..it would be minimum ...sheesh ..any engineering that takes welding and cutting of glass etc,,,
their could be alot of time involved.

In terms of who to do the work? visit a few panelbeaters that work on older cars ..ask questions..get quotes..
