WTB - ZF LSD to suit IRS Bug

Like the title says - I'm after a ZF LSD to suit an IRS Bug trans.

Good used condition is my thinking, but if someone has a NEW one sittin out in the unicorn stable, under a layer of rocking-horse do-do next to the flux capacitor stash, then I'd probably take it I think...

Nothing's happened to the Quaife - just finding it can't cope when one wheel's almost completely unloaded.

Definitely keeping an eye on samba for any ZF's that crop up, but figure might as well ask on here as well.

Don't spose you wanna part with yours do ya Daimo ???

Marcus - only issue is coming out of the hairpin at Mt Cotton, and I think its because the inside of the corner drops away so much. Quite low speed... probably 40-45km/h exit speed I'd say. The Quaife just doesn't seem to cope and I get a fair bit of spin still....still has drive so WAY ahead of an open diff, but just think a traditional LSD may suit that corner better. Everywhere else the Quaife is great, and SO much more predictable in the wet than an open diff.

Col - thanks for tip about samba - am keeping my eye on there already, but haven't seen anything from Bruce Tweddle (yet).

My thinking is to build a second box with a ZF in it - don't want to miss any events ya see - but if I do decide to sell the Quaife and/or current box I'll post up. Craig's first in the queue obviously...

Hi

The new 1303 I'm building was often used in hillclimbs by the previous owner, there was a corner at Silverdale that was really tight, I could never understand after watching this car how it could get around this corner with an open diff but no wheelspin, this car had a 2180 that did 13 sec 1/4s.

I found out that he used to adjust his hand brake so that the inside wheel could be locked going through the corner.

Now that's cheaper than a new LSD

If you've ever drivin an off roader with steering brakes you would know how well that could work. In the dirt, under power in a low speed corner you can make the front turn like a skid steer.

Heh heh - DB askin questions he already knows the answer to...

;)

AWESOME doesn't do the new box justice !!!

Old setup: 3.55/2.0/1.40/1.0 x 4.125r&p with a Quaife
New setup 3.11/2.08/1.5/1.09 x 4.375r&p with a ZF

Drove Jezebel to and from work for a week to get some k's on the box, and it was a ton of fun...the only thing I
missed from my normal V8 ute daily driver was the aircon...
The first day everyone at work wondered what I'd been up to since I walked into the office with a stoopid big grin
on my face !!!

Only had 1event at Mt Cotton so far, but ratios suit the track just great... I worked out where I wanted the shift
points based on video and telemetry of previous runs, and DB + others helped selecting ratios to suit (with allowance for
improvement).

Is amazing much better the ZF handles the hairpin... basically get no spin at all on the exit, and Jezebel just
drives out of the corner nice and planted. Maybe the slightest amount of understeer over what I had, but
should be able to tune that out with other settings.

So yes - :tu: :tu: up from me !!!

:D
