abit of history behind this car is that it was used in PNG as a church mobile then a man imported it in 1974 into australia at which it was restored he then passed it onto his brother who9 then restored it again back in the late 80's i think we have owned it for about 2 years know!
there isnt many around in australia that are actually still driving these where not produced in australia all are private imports!
cheers
rhys
p.s. this is the only 4 door sedan VW produced in this era

VW 411 with type 4 engine*****

When I first saw one of these in Newcastle back in the late 60s.... I had always dreamed of a 4 door Volkswagen....

What size engine does this one have?
Is it Carby or Fuel Injected?
Manual or Auto??

I do prefer the 412 - it looks much better IMHO!!

The 411 + 412s had the type 4 engine....
and were sold in South Africa + PNG & New Zealand - plus North America, Egypt, Algeria + Europe...
but not in Australia or South America.... ??

They had 1679cc or 1795cc type 4 engines with twin carbies or Bosch fuel injection....

These were the ultimate Air Cooled 4 door Volkswagen....

Shame they weren't sold in Australia....

You can get fibreglass Guards in the UK for them...

hey lee
this one has the 1700 donk in it and is carbyd version it is using a type 3 gearbox modified for the hydraulic clutch although we have the original gearbox here just needs a rebuild!! there is plenty of room for a 2L type 4 engine which is what we had planned!!
i agree lee it is the ultimate VW in sedan form there is enough room for 5 people cause u have no gear shifter tunnel, and with a mcpherson strut front end have plenty of front boot space!!!
cheers

Where to start? The 411/412 were the last development of the aircooled sedan platform before the Passat / Golf kicked in.

The type 4 engine alone is worth it, along with the petrol / gas heater (if fitted). This price is a bargain. I wish I had some.
