Rust Bullet
Hi everyone, I know that Andy from Volksfolks is a dealer for rust buller but I can't get his website to work and his ebay store doesn't have any
prices for it per litre. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is someone else in Melbourne who stocks it and where I can find some info on it as
the ebay store says that he is on holiday.

In answer to your first question, not sure of other distributors in melbourne. I have some tins which I will be bringing to valla (on Andy's behalf)
- $66/quart (just under 1L) just in case you want some and are going to valla.
In response to type_one request, I have used it on the pan and suspension components of my current beetle resto. I have also used POR15 (inc the
chassis coat top coat) and killrust, as well as spraying enamel, acrylic and two pack. In terms of preparation it very easy and fast (much less so
than POR15). I haven't tried to hit with a hammer yet (which seems to be a claim of por15 re. chip/scratch resistance), however during reassembly
thus far I haven't had any dramas.
It doesn't self-level as well as POR15 (ie. the brush marks don't disappear as well), and the colour is silver (no good if you want black). Not sure
if you can paint over it (email http://www.rustbullet.com to find out?). So in
summary so far, so good but I haven't had it in place for long enough to evaluate its durability. Just so you know, I have nothing to do with
rustbullet or andy's company - just purely being a middle man.

Went to bunnings today and got some killrust. It was much cheaper than Rust Bullet. Will see how it goes. Thanks for the advice peeps

Hoping to ressurect the discussion about rust bullet.
After seeing Dasdubbers pan in rust bullet, i was really sold on the idea. But still want to hear what people have to say, specially seeing as i want
to use it on the floor pan.
Kill rust is definetly cheaper, but does it have the durabillity for underside usage?

Generally poor surface prep.
POR works best on weathered bare metal that is totally clean.
No primer, no grease.
It's important the article to be painted is totally grease free as POR is not solvent based like most paints.
Even the oil from your skin will affect POR, so limit handling the article after cleaning.

How much coverage did you get out of a quart das? in terms of parts covered. 1/2 a pan. full pan?
What about durability?
It really looks the ducks nuts on everything i've seen it on and i'm leaning towards it. Whats andy logon name on dsk?

One quart pretty much did both sides of pan and misc suspension components from memory.
Andy's username is volksfolks on dsk.
Durability thus far is good and comparable to por15 in my experience (but much easier to apply)

sorry if this is a newbie question.
but say i have a sandblasted bare metal pan....can i apply rust bullet straight to it?.
or do i need to coat it in something else first?

I've used it
I bought the sampler pack to do a few small bits. About the only thing I would do different is buy a few el cheapo "use once" brushes or a high
density roller & spare rollers. It is thick stuff and when it dries (read the directions about optimum temps, I unfortunately had to do my parts in
semi cold temps) it's quite tough.
I will use it again when it's time to do the larger parts.
