Tinkering on the Lathe
Dak-a-Tak asked me to rebush his nose cone.
Problem was it was quite a rare one from a 67 bus and it used a weird bush size.
Now that I have my lathe up and running I made a one piece bush and seal holder to fix it.
Turned out pretty salubrious.
While I was at it,
I rebushed an early nose cone for RAZ-34(Rod) for his bus conversion tranny.
The conversion required an early nose cone that has NO seal.
This is needed because they shorten the hockey stick to make it all fit far enough forward.
If the bush wears on these ones, it WILL leak oil,
whereas the later one with a seal can bear a bit of wear before leaking(despite the shift quality being crappy when worn).

I have also set up and re-bushed some intermediate housings.
When these wear it is amost impossible to get into gear
unless you use the exact same worn out fork that was in there.
But once it is done,
they shift really nicely.
These are not washed but you get the idea.
This 2lt bus one needed both 1/2 and 3/4 rods rebushed:
This one only needed 3/4 done:
Here is a shot from the other side:
Here is an early and late bug housing done as well:

dangerous,
Nice one!
While you are on a roll, make up an adapter to "face" the nose cone. Makes it easier to adjust the preload on the main shaft and drive pinion.
