Law re orange indicators

As can be seen in picture I have one orange and one clear indicator lens. I would like to get another clear lens so they match, and was chatting to Kuch about it and he reckons car would not get a blue slip unless had orange bulbs maybe.
Anyone else know if this is the case and/or have a clear lens for passenger side?
ps got a great bumper of Kuch BTW (not fitted yet) and neither is strip that shows

I'm guessing that if You had two matching blinkers , I don't think they would worry...

It was law back then to have clear blinkers....

although some of the early type 3s imported had amber blinkers.... which were standard in Germany....

the 1964 Beetle came out with the wide clear front blinkers...
1968 beetles came with wide amber blinkers....

cheers

LEE

Most people wouldnt know if clear was standard back then
lots of beetles etc have the clear lenses now...
late model cars have to use amber bulbs as that is NOW the law for those model cars.... LEE

Thanks for that. I guess i will wait till VW Nationals and if i see a lens for sale (whether orange or clear) I will just buy it, and leave it to lady luck which one I get. Guess will look good either way, and can always get amber bulbs later.

Kuch is right, unless the car came with clear ones from the factory which is only the case with early 60s beetles its not legal unless you have amber bulbs

you can get amber bulbs at cheapskate auto or even on the walls at servos
they have an offset pin which doesnt match vw sockets but is nothing a file doesnt fix

thats all i ran with clear lenses till i got amber LEDs

I have clear front and rear lenses, with orange bulbs, never ever had a problem with getting rego'ed, the front and rear blinkers are normal filament globes and the rear brake lights are LED

no worries ill do some treasure hunting tomoro once my heads had enough dealing with the loom-o-doom

stick with amber bulbs for now
theres a bit of work to run LEDs like changing to an LED compatible flasher unit and rewiring the speedo indicator

Simon just told me he found some amber bulbs with the BA15S bayonettes which are straight plug and play for vw indicators

I think it was at K Mart I found amber globes with compatible bayonet pins. A few days after I bought the other type and filed the pins of course. That's life.
