It is $250 to send it away to get done. Seriously cheap compared to the squillion hours spent hacking and not knowing where you stuffed up along the way.

Just don't start hacking it up, get stuck and then send it away. People don't like working on hacked up looms - because if something doesn't work it usually comes back to bite them and it isn't worth the hassel.

To give you an idea.
I have a couple of pics of the harness with plugs identified before hacking and after excess is cut away including a pile of wire to the right. It is at the stage where it needs to be spliced back into the car.

Word of advice make sure you have the correct wiring for your ecu and harness. There are a few variants. lol more like alot. A quick check of wiring colours on your plugs and plugs/pins arrangements will tell you. Allow an arvo to three days to do the job depending on your wiring experience.

Also note the is not necessary to remove the excess wires or cut any off. You can simply use the original harness leaving the extras. Identify the power wires and connect (dont forget to use the correct fuse size). You may need to loop back things like the neutral switch (man or auto).

I'm having all types of trouble with my subby motor electrics as I purchased a 2006 engine with the drive by wire.

With the ABS etc I was told it just aint going to work unless I get a new manafold and harness.

ok

This is what I have done with all of my fly by wire motors, 2ltr & 2.5 ltrs

06 sti motor and so on
Removed thottel body ( fly by wire ) made an adapter to take a V3 sti throttle body ( dont listen to any one about adding a spacer in this area it does not affect the motor )
Removed AVCS cam wheels
Removed AVCS cams
Fitted after market 264 cams and 272 cams ( did springs and retainers as well ) shimed the heads with the new cams
Removed / blocked off oil lines to cam pullys
Removed 06 crank trigger and fitted V3 standard crank trigger ( thats the bit that slides over the main crank shaft )
Had CNC billet centers made to suit early RS cam wheels. Machined the centers out of the RS steel cam wheels and drilled and taped M6 holes to take the billet centers, these are adjustable and off sets suit the RS cam wheels.
Ported the oil returns from the heads / block back to sump
Using RS/ WRX cam triggers mounts, fabricated new trigger holders located on 06 heads
Fabricated parallel fuel rails
Ported the STI inlet manifold and deleted the tumblers

Plugged in a stock V3 loom and fitted a power FC, kind of scared to drive it now :tu:

Whooo, man that sounds intense!!

I will give them another call at AMauto but I have contacted them and was given the advice of getting a pre 04 manifold and harness to sort it out.

But again it's all $$$
