Administrivia: Database corruption / sponsorship & ads / how to contact me

Hi there,

I have found corruption in our ad database tables.

This means that some of our current sponsors' ads are not showing up. I'm taking the following remedial actions:

a) Reviewing all current sponsors to determine their correct end date as there are at least three sponsors who should be showing, but aren't as it claims that their end date is 0000-00-00, which is clearly wrong
b) Extending all current sponsors for three months gratis as this is my fault for coming here like once in a blue moon
c) Ensuring all current sponsors have their correct ads
d) Ensuring all sponsorships I signed up in December are actually active. I will contact those that I've failed to implement or the corruption has silenced and give them an additional three months free.
e) Re-balance the ad weighting to ensure that premium sponsors get the correct 2x ratio compared to standard sponsors.
f) There's a new forum (Weekly deals) that requires code changes. I will be talking with those sponsors over the next few days.

If you notice interesting things with the forum (like ads going offline, or the site going off the air), or you are a sponsor and you can't see your ads, I'm sad to say, but the best way to contact me is via phone. I work 12 to 14 hour days far away from my personal Mac, and am often too tired to deal with my personal e-mail when I get home except on weekends, which are reserved for my 4 year old daughter.

So if you need my attention - please SMS (for non-urgent matters) or call me (for urgent matters) on 0451 057 580. If you have my old number, please update it.

Sorry for all the imperfections here!

thanks,
Andrew

Hi everyone,

We have some database corruption that I will need to dump and re-load the database. I'm going to start this process now. The site should be back by 6 pm.

thanks
Andrew

We're back. I'll need to do a bit more cleanup (duff data creating ophans), but that should fix the table corruption issue.

thanks
Andrew
