While reasembaling may 1.8l kombi engine i noticed that there was no thermostat.
I assume the person who owned the car diddn't think it was neccesary to replace.
Should i replace, or not bother?
Would the only effect of not having it be the engine takes longer to warm up??
Cheers
MIlt
Yes it should be replace along with all the other bits of the mechanism.
milt, the engine warming up slower is the only problem, but it is a fairly significant problem. Clearances within an engine are set up to be at their optimum while at operating temperature. A cold engine will wear faster than one which is warmed to operating temperature. 🙂

My thermostat and flaps are missing too.
Is it easy to put them in without removing the motor?
