GEARBOX NOSE CONE info needed

The nose cone on my 64 beetle was cracked can i replace with a type 3 nose cone or is the coupling different ..cheers KKOOL also what is the correct way the rod is internaly placed back into the gearbox...

The gearbox in yr 64 should be a 1200 type and the gearbox in a Type 3 is a 1500 type.

If they both look the same physically then it shouldnt be a problem. Just check the gear shift selector rod heights in the housing.
I read it on FACEBOOK so it must be true

Thnks Dave,Did a bit of sourcing today and this what i found out and discovered thanks to the guys at Volkspower.The housing is the same but where the rod[hockey stick]joins on the coupling is different on a type 3 the grub screw thread is on the bottom on a type 1 it is taped threw the top.So all I simply have to do is take the rod out of the type 1 cracked nose cone and put it on the type 3 nose cone.Easy...

Yep thats right about the type 3 selector shaft the grub screw is on the bottom.

Swapping ove will be OK.
