Cuba is not that dangerous.
We want to go to be different. It is not easy to get a visa. We had to pay Cuban consulate cash cash to get it.
Last time we travelled to South America for two months no probs and when we got to USA we got robbed within 3 hours !

Cuba looks nice, but I am putting it off (just like China and a few other Asian countries) till after I get out of uniform. Not that we aren't allowed or anything bad about going there, just makes it easier for clearances if I haven't been there.

well..when i go home on weekends i get mum to do my washing..and she also cooks and freezes meals for me so i don;t have to cook after a ...umm..'hard' day at uni hahahahha.
dad's already in sweden mate..been there for a few years now..so i am man of the house :P

Just got back from our new (old) house.
The restumpers have the house literally on jacks. They have dug out all of the old stumps. We have had a good look at the floors and it has been decided we cannot sand and polish the boards that are currently there as quite a few boards have had borers which means a few boards will have to be replaced too.
We are now looking at floating floor option. Don't want fake wood printed ones as that would look tacky. So we will be going for some expensive ones instead. I wish we could cash in our Cuba holiday now 🙁
I tell you what houses chew up money a lot quicker than cars can.

What about 2nd hand floor boards? I renovated an old queenslander and had the same problem. Managed to find a house demolition yard with miles of old boards. Found some boards which were almost identical. By the time we had them we polished and varnished you couldn't pick them.
You might be glad for a trip before you get stuck in. Renovating a house takes it out of you.

The main problem is the original (50 y/o) boards are pine and have a lot of knots with holes, and basically I have seen packing crates with better timber. Don't get me wrong, the floors are strong, just very utility.
This, along with the different widths and colours of boards in different rooms and area's, and that some boards have already been replaced with hardwood. The couple of grand we would invest in getting them polished would not give us anywhere near a satisfactory finish.
I don't have time to do them myself either, as we have only two weeks to be out of the other house. Covering it is really the only option. We don't want tiles, carpet or vinyl. We really like the look of boards. It is going to cost more, but like a lot of things, again you get what you pay for. There is printed MDF from $25 sq/m at the bottom end of the scale to jarrah 4mm veneer/ pine ply wide boards at $110 sq/m.

Am out at the folks to type some reports for my Dad and went out to Micks, 🙁 not happy, he's shut this morning 🙁
Was looking to get some axle boots and bits, so maybe next weekend. As it is, I have to find my axles again anyways 😊 I am sure they are in my garage somewhere...........

Well theres always something that comes along to spoil your plans. Picked up a bloody virus and am sick as a dog. No lismore swap for me this weekend. Also found out the owners of the house im renting are seriously thinking of selling, I have about 8 months left on my lease, then it looks like im out on my arse. House price's up here have gone absolutely mental and you don't get much change out of $350.000 for anything decent. Three years ago you could get a three bedroom house with a shed for just over $120.000-180.000 The average annual wage up here is $30.000 not sure how your sposed to afford a 350.000 house on that sort of money. Everyone wants to live on the gold coast, don't know why, its not that great, you can buy a house in Sydney for that sort of money, and get a better paying job. Im stuck here though until my kids finish school.

As for the house, I agree. To get a decent place up her in Bris is over $250000, but add a shed that is bigger than a one car carport and you are already over $300000. I am seriously looking at land and building a place instead to try and get something under $300000 that isn't falling apart!
Hope your guys don't sell up, or if they do that the new buyers use the place as an investement and let you stay on with a new lease.
