OK VW PPL
I have just ordered some whitewall inserts for the Oval.
My question is this.
Is there any tips or procedures, ect ect, that I should know or do before fitting these to my rims and tyres.
Thanks. Rob...😎

Apparently they go on easier if the car is lowered.....:P
Rob I was told they wear the rubber on the tyre....at the outer edge of the ring?
Is there any way to stop this happening??
They will look very cool but!!!:thumb
what size did u get? asin the thickness of the strip
Just had Lou telling me about whitewalls...looking through pics of the Nat's and came up with pics of two widths...
What did you get Rob?
Jay's Wolf and thin whitewalls...not inserts

....thicker ones
Hi Rob,
You'd have them fitted by a tyre fitter 'cos the tyre has to be deflated and the bead seperated from the rim. The insert, "whitewall," is slipped in between the tyre bead and the rim, then the tyre is re inflated. The difficulty is that as the tyre is inflated it tries to spit the whitewall out, and the trick is to inflate the tyre while keeping the whitewall in place. Getting the whitewall to sit evenly around the wheel is real important 'cos if it aint it will "flap" as the wheel turns, and wear a groove in the tyre wall. The profile of the tyre will make a difference too. If you have a fairly tall profile the whitewall will prob sit nicely on the wall of the tyre and not have a tendency to move or flap, whereas a low profile will have the whitewall sitting out from the tyre wall and flap as the wheel turns. You need to find a tyre fitter who has done them before. Here's one on a 135. See how the whitewall doesn't even touch the wall of the tyre. The next pic is on a 195x65x15 and fits like a glove and doesn't move. Get it? What size tyres you puttin em on?
Whitewall insert on 195x65x15.
I have the 2" flaps, not the Atlas 1.5", and I have had both, and find the wider ones are thicker and more rigid.. Stronger.. Nice. Made of plastic in a way too.. Different. Easy to clean.
I also use tubes in my tyres. I find that after a while if your rims are average, which mine were, but not so much now, the air would slowly escape, whilst going around a sharp corner for example when the tyre would roll, so I found this was a way of keeping the tyres up, even if they did roll..

THE LOWEST WITH THE MOSTEST BLING BLING WINS!!
Thanks PPL
I am putting them on the 56 (oval) she is running standard profile (see Kafer) 15" crossplys, so should not have too much trouble with the cutting in problem.
I have bought a brand I have not heard of before they are 2 inch "Omega" (Italian) , At $85 a set, I thought I could give them a go and see If they are any good, if they are no good I will buy the Atlas brand later.
I was wondering if I should use a soap solution to help with the movement while inflating problem.
Using tubes (thanks Jim) is another thing that may be something I should consider.
Any more suggestiong would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Rob...

There is a guy in Qld who sells the Atlas white walls, $110 a set.
I think fitting instructions state that white wall flaps should only be used with Tubes as Jim pointed out.
YEa just spoke 2 my mrs cous @ beaurepairs he can get them in for me~ & fit them cool~

I have heard that using rubber solution (like you get with a bicycle puncture repair kit) to glue the flaps into place once they're on helps prevent them coming away or chafing the tyre wall.
