OK this is goin to be a continuous thing for me and I hope that maybe someone else gets something out of it also.

I have purchased a second car, Baja, named 'Chequers' which i hope to turn into a race/rod Baja.

Its just the body/floorpan, chunky tyres at the bak and smallish ones at the front.
I shall have to do some welding and patch work to him which i intend to get my father to show me since he's in the steel fabrication business.

BUT... I wish to get the bosy and floor pan sandblasted to start me off, I need to get the body off the floor pan and dont know where to start with this resto. SO any tips/starting points would be much appreciated!

I shall have to put pics of him up as soon as i find theUSB cord for the digi cam! :thumb:thumb

i have a 66 baja convertible that has a touch of rust ,and will be tackling that as well will keep post up in readers rides keen to see what work you have to do

Why chequers? that used to be name of brand of condoms... maybe still is
Good luck with it, glad you dad will teach you welding skills...need more fems with these... gives the guys something other than fem stuff to talk to gals about

Ok heres the low down.

Chequers - no i didn't take it from that site but YES it does have a link with racing and the checkered flag! 😀 Interesting paint job to come in the end! but thats a suprise!!!!!!
Thank you TonyG for the condom comment, no i didn't know there was a brand called Chequers but it def doesn't have any association WAT SO EVA! hehehehe CHEEKY!

PICS PICS PICS... are stil on their way. Dad shifted his business office out of the house to a proper office and I havn't bin able to located the USB cord.... so as SOON as i get that i'll load da pics guys i PROMISE! 🙂 I can't wait to see em on the net either instead of on a lil camera! LOL

I am hoping to do ann the welding and fixing myself just as something to do and new to learn and yes then i can talk ot guys that know this stuff and feel that i've accomplished something! and then i might b able to help someone else with that kind of task if they so wish.... Makes being in a club all the more fun!

Thanks so much for the threads and links Batty Bat and Dessert Moose... shall look into them... but im sure with each bit that i do it seems to get that lil bit easier each time... At first its was SUPER daunting and all i wanted to do was sit in front of it and cry! Sometimes i still wanna do that... I know it'll work out eventually and that I can always jump on here and ask around for things and SOMEONE OUT THERE will help me some how even if its just a lil something.

Another HUGE thank you to JAYCEE who's soooo kindly given a motor to me to get started which i shall fix up and to BlueBus for giving me a lead to a possibly race car body! Without you guys i'd still be at square one!
