I didn't fall off. and it's sudenly hit me that of all the years I have ridden, and all the bucks I have endured, I have never fallen off once...oh hehe yes, apart from a few times, but they weren't due to my horse bucking, it was probley somthing stupid that i was doin. This is yes the topic of my post for today. I was riding Echo yesterday, and all of a suddon he through in this all mighty buck, and I just kept on going and never thought anything of it until now, where I am discussing the observation of my riding skills. I wonder if I can put this "skill" into driving, and if so, do any of you have any sugestions? Oh and before you think Echo must be a bad horse, no he isn't a BAD horse, he is young and full of energy and I'm not going to think anything bad of it on his behalf coz really, they can't be angels all the time can they? OH and the picture I have included is just for laughs. :bounce

I remember a few years ago on my farm we'd just bought another horse and on it's first day on the property while my Dad was riding (it's a very hilly steep property, lots of gullys and ridges) the horse spooked at something on a razorback ridge and rolled down the hill and over my Dad a couple of times. My Dad broke a couple of ribs the and he had to put the horse down. First day.:cry We had another horse that was my Dad's favourite and had been on our property for a long time, it somehow mamaged to gore itself on a branch on a log and tear a big flap of skin down one side. We just see this horse walking down the hill slowly and you could tell someting was wrong. It would've cost a LOT of money for a vet to come out and fix him up and it was very hard for my Dad to put him down. very sad.

If we fell off our parents forced us to get back on straight away if we were'nt injured. You have to otherwise you'll get freaked out.

My first horse had been abused by some idiot guys in his past. They were trying to turn him into a rodeo bronco. He'd shy at everything and throw me off all the time. Worst landing was on a tree stump in the middle of my back. I heard this lovely "crack" sound, but at 15 you just roll over winded, grab the reins and jump on again.

Eventually I learned how to stay on and he learned to trust me. Building a solid relationship on all those "issues" is one of the great achievements in life I reckon' (keeping a Dub running is another one!!!).

You will find that riding horses doesn't really give you any practical driving skills apart from a natural ability to keep your eyes peeled for idiots. It builds a good bod tho' and helps you in some social situations involving nakedness.
All in all a good hobby!

:kiss yes well I just thought maybe I could apply my "sticking" skills to driving, maybe ill be a rally driver and i can drive real fast without getting bounced around too much. :P I havent really had any falls, just coz I was being an idiot, like i hoped on my arab without a saddle or a bridle and she touched the electric fence, and well that story speaks for itself, and another time i was galloping her up a hill and she got excited and started doing this weird arse thing and i fell off too, but i held the reins coz i didnt want to to gallop away and get all tangled in the reins. out of all the years those are the only 2 times i can think of where i have fallen off. im sure i have other times, but they werent bad. and i think the reason i havnt fallen off is because i can tell when they are going to do somthing and i rectify the problem before it occures. but i have a knack for that, a lot of people arent as fortunate as i 😀

You a gynacologist Mate? Sounds like an interesting story is lurking behind that comment.

Yeah, but sticking involves using the thighs and bum on a saddle or bareback. I've never seen a rally seat built that way before. You'd have to do something about the positioning of the pedals too. May be an idea for a new invention. I suspect that the potential damage to Male drivers would limit the product's success tho'. Whatever!

ahh, see I did read it, and followed thru,,, besides i would have suggested the addition of styrrups (or however u speel it!)... thus creating a multipourpose unit:

1. Eirrin could go into biz as midwife
2. Eirrin could also invest in a delightful leather outfit with lotsa zips n' sturf. (wat? I was thinking singing waitress or singing whackogram,,,:o)
3. Eirrin could put it on motorised hydraulic bouncy thing and sell rides at school fetes etc (note did not state obvious connection with number 2!)
4. Could sew a big material horse and add to no 3; then tie to back of nicks baja and see if she can enter a rodeo spectacular out west somewhere (still not mentioning no2 connection )

see there is more to it than just blatant plagiarism. k.lol :P
