I've been using a total loss oil system on my kombi since the rebuild after last nambucca. I found what I thought was the leak. I had mistakenly used the distributer shaft O ring for a pushrod seal (doesnt work duh). SO I fixed that and thought all my troubles would be over. But it still flowed black tea everywhere. I degreased it and lay under there for 15 minutes but there was no leak. But as soon as I drove away the leak came back. Obviously when the oil sloshed it was coming out of some large hole. It was a lot better when there was next to no oil in it. But I couldnt find the hole anywhere.
Johnny Howard gave me $600 because I have a daughter, and because she goes to school in the kombi... I drove it into Dunham autos and told them to fix it. It was to stay there for a few days as they are booked out. It wasnt there long though because shimo the legend found the problem instantly. The oil was coming out of the hole that the thermostat pulley screws into. (i dont have thermostat). All the grief I have had with that POS and all it was missing was 1 little 6mm screw.
So now I dont have to be embarrassed wherever I park. It is now drier than the Sahara and I'm out looking for fresh new driveways to park on.
Now to fix up all those rego defects for Valla.
