Finally a bit of vw competition for rod penrose
He's been on his own for so long
Good to see cbb in the 9's....congrats.....how long before we see 8's😉
Will be out there to watch..........not to race yet unfortunately🙁.........are there anymore vw's going out?
CBB ran consitant 9s during the final round of Drag Combat in late May. Mike pushed the bug to 142mph.
These numbers were done with a clutch that was slipping all day. A new CBB designed and built clutch has been installed so with luck we'll see a faster Cranky One out there punching the numbers!
This has got to be one of the fastest VW sedans around using a VW crankcase and gearbox!
And don't forget it's only a 2.1 litre oxyboxer (with a VW crank!) not a huge capacity Scat or Autocraft engine...

9.9 @ 142 mph after a not so perfect launch and still using a pretty fat tune. The new clutch is biting well.
Looks like there might be a pinion problem so it was decided not to risk breaking the box. That's racing...
So mile per hour was the same as the best ffrom Drag Combat round 4. Considering the delay at launch the MPH looks like it will be up considerably shortly. That MPH inidcates an ET around the best of last time out 9.6 if it had have been a clean launch.
The run was very straight and it sure would have disappointed the Torana it ran against to see the arse end of a beetle for 9 seconds.
