Hey everyone. Got a question about my van.
It looks like a sunliner conversion, but I don't think it is. It has a sticker which says it was done by Land Cruisers Australia.
It also has another 'feature'. It was converted from a panel van, and fitted with flat glass. Which is on a curved panel with a straight frame. The rubber which goes from frame to car body takes care of the curve.
That reminds me, if anyone out there knows where I can get those little plastic things that fit in the curtain runners, please oh please tell me!!!!!
Tristan.

A large number of campers were built out of panel vans as they were cheaper to purchase initially.

It's just all the pano conversions I've seen had that bloody curved glass on them. And the fact that it has a top that looks the same as a sunliner, and I believe the internal layout was the same (never saw it fully fitted out, but the scuff marks remain).

Its not a creamy yellow kombi parked in Virginia during the day is it?

hmm? no. It's a white (if you could still call it that) van that currently lurks around southeast QLD. Soon to be in VIC. Which kind or irks me, because I wanna keep my NSW plates!
Anyway, as far as I can tell, it's a sunliner clone....I think. Now it's one of my specialties! Something that looks utterly ratted, yet strangely functional.

....plastic curtain things....
Two types, the hook type which hooks into the curtain tape, and then into the runner in the track,
and the small nylon runner which fits under the curtain string in the tape. These are harder to find. This type doesn't use hooks.
There may be other types. :-)
There's a caravan parts supply firm in 'The Nook', Bayswater, Melb., who have these. They also have/had a branch in Murrumbeena. Forgotten their name, I'll look it up. Haven't been there for years. Off Canterbury Rd.
The type mine has/had are sewn into the top of the curtains. But anything easier to fit is a bonus and a half.
Anyhow, once I get the motor back in, I'm re-fitting a dual battery system. I think mine used to have one because there was an earth strap and the holes for the battery mount on the left. I've been carrying around a spare battery there for ages, but I figure I might as well go for it.
Can anone tell me the standard ground clearance of a bay kombi? My stupid gregorys doesn't have it listed. The fact that I can comfortably work under it without any ramps etc makes me wonder fi the suspension was lifted. Possibly for the camper mod's extra weight.

hey general failure, i've got some curtain rails with all the little white sliders in it that i'm plannin on gettin rid of soon, let me know if you need any help.
nah, wouldnt worry about the fact that you can work comfortably under it, will be standard height. 30cm to inside floor i think is the official measurement, cant realy remember tho. is the roof full length or 3/4? take a look at trakka.com.au i have a traka that sounds pretty similar to what you have, they were built in sydney.

The roof is a full length, like the sunliner. Same roof actually. Just no logo on it. There's a couple of pics at

It's gotta be more than 30cm to the inside floor! I'm not exactly a lightly built person. It'd have to be at least 30cm to the jacking points. I'll get out the tape measure when it's off the ramps.
I know I've always used it to my advantage to cross median strips and other such things which are designed to stop traffic.
Have a look at my bullbar too. I have no idea who made it, but it's heavy duty and mounted to the car in 4 places. Comes in handy as a towing point when it's bogged, which does happen kind of easily. I have light commercial tyres on the back.
