Does anyone know a workshop around brisbane that can do a wheel alignment on my bay that really knows vw's? Or are they simple enough for any tyre place to do? I'm near toowoomba but I go to brissy a lot so I dont mind going out of my way to find somewhere decent. Thanks.
I like hank schoemaker steering and suspension at hill crest (brown plains) hey does my bugs, (but they are supers) he only does steering and suspension (not tyres or general servicing) and he gives the technical know how of the big mobs eg fulcrum but with alot better customer service.

I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!
Go hard or go home!!!!
I have a HEAP of wheel alignment experience with my VW's, the latest the day before Valla. Unfortunately I only have good experience with East Coast suspensions in sydney. Anywhere in Wollongong is CRAP and I will say that in front of any amount of lawyers you throw at me.
Every alignment place I have been to, tells me that the only thing adjustable in a VW is front toe. Wait till you see how shitty they get when you try to argue otherwise. I have been under the car to show them how to adjust camber! This happened at so many places that I gave up and went to East Coast. They used to do Geoff Morgans porsche cup car so I figured they knew what a wheel alignment was.
The latest drama I had was when I need the alignment on Valla Eve to protect my new tyres. I was wearing the outsides on the front and the insides at the back. The back wasnt too bad so I would have settled for a front only, knowing the quality of work around here. I couldnt get in to most places. 1 guy told me he would do it, but would cost me extra cos they have to take the wheel off, do an adjustment put wheel back on to check and repeat until correct. Hung up on that one. But then I came across a big ad in the yellow pages for a 'suspension specialist' saying they did front and rear. So I rang them up and they could fit me at 9:00am. Bewty cos I had uni at 10:30. The car dissappeared and came out at 10:30 instead of the promised 10:00. I was told there is no adjustment on the rear. I told them how, and they "knew you could do that on a beetle". Well one look should have shown its the same on a kombi. But better still, the kombi is only adjustable for toe, and only on one side. That is why my steering wheel is 45 degrees out. And they break really easy so they arent going to straighten it. Blank looks all round when I mentioned eccentrics on the ball joints. So it took them 1 1/2 hours to adjust the toe, something I could have done myself with a tape measure and not cost $45. Sorry for the rant, but I swear to you, I got straight advice, specialists who understand (nothing), and NO BULL!
Before you leave the car, ask them how they are going to do it.

I stick to CBB. A volkswagen specialist with their own electronic wheel alignment gear!
I will do my own soon, for free. I have a mate who has a machine (i didnt know) and he is going to teach me how to use it. YAY. no more relying on fwits or commuting 80minutes.

I'll do it for you for free if you bring it over..........lol
Thanks bix and air-fooled , two recomendations for the one person is enough for me. I'm sure some so called specialsts dont give a *uck because your just a hippy in a kombi who wouldn't know a ball joint from a camber compensator. That shits me big time coz I want to have good steering and even tyre wear just the same as chad in his shiny wrx. Hey moose after I've crossed the canning I might need one, thanks:puke
cool i'll warn him in advance!!!! i need some more kombi bits hehehehe :O 😉 🙂 * am picturing scenes from "the great escape" where the captured allied soldiers jump under parked german trucks and rip out bars and braces to use on their tunnels* hahahahha
