Ok guru's, here is a question... What are the major differences between the early ovals (ie 1955) to the lates... 1955 model in particular.

Ones I am aware of, and correct me if I am wrong;

Batwing steering wheel
Single outlet muffler
Different fuel tank lid
Different doors and strikers ?
Different door trims ?

I'm interested mainly in those parts that woudl be required for a restoration (ie are there are some parts that a 55 came out with but the 56 or 57 parts will fit also ?)

Thanks in advance for your help 🙂

Different front and rear seat frames
Different front guards and bonnet and decklid.
Different door seals ( square type)
Different interior light switches in doors.
Different brakes and floor pan.
Different crest on bonnet. ( bigger gates and wolf is different)

Mate the list goes on.
I have a few bits and might be able to help you.
Everything 36HP !
Change over king and link spindles
6-12volt semaphores

There is a slim possibility that I might be able to buy a complete 55 (almost one owner), original engine + gearbox, driven to where it sits (unfortunately outside). Doesnt appear to have massive rust, though I havent had a real good look yet, and has only fixable dents in guards, decklid etc.

I was just curious to find out what I need to ensure is there before I believe the guy when he says it is a complete car.

Keep em coming, I'm learning here 🙂
