ok guys, there must be a few of you out there planning to go to schoolies this year, just wondering what everyones plans are? i personally cannot be bothered with the bu!!$hit that will constitute the goldcoast celebrations, nor can i be bothered with the cost or the travel. instead i would prefer somewhere no more then a days drive from home.
does anyone know anywhere worth going between Eden in NSW and Victor Harbout in SA?
Victor Harbour looks pretty good at the moment.
any suggestions?

schoolies was good back when i was 17, but my friends think it is shit now. I would go somewhere else, sunshine coast, stadie etc. We always did a mini schoolies after uni each year, used to get a house at byron for a week, 12 ppl, lots of grog, those were the days!!!
I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!
Go hard or go home!!!!
Victor Harbour is a tops place to go, but it too is becomming a bit of a schoolies hang out I think.
i went to the gold coast for my schoolies last year. spent about a grand. wasnt even that crash hot......lots of coppers. there was beach music and performances with fire pois and staves that made me want to show them how its done properly. but we had a nice place called the "silverton Luxury apartments" we had 6 in our appartment and it ended up costing about $350 each for 7 days. we had veiws of the river (for the wake boarding and stuff) and the roadside for the 1000's of rice burners to look at.....it seems everyone on the goldcoast owned a supra, skyline, 300zx or silvia. did see a few nice dubs though and a few sweet porsches. for u blokes in the southern states i wouldnt worry about the goldie its to far for too little. though if u are single there were some nice ladies walking around.
i wish i had of gone to byron with some of my other mates and drank cask wine and partied with the hippys for about 150 bucks instead of the 1000 i spent at the goldie. might head down to byron this year to check it out.
oh and the night before you leave even if u have shite loads of grog left, never try to drink it all so u dont take any home. after the bottle of vodka i was feeling ok it was the scotch that did it i think...........

as a resident of the Gold Coast I only have this to say:
"....AAARRRRRGGGGG here comes schoolies again - looks like Surfers is out of bounds again for those couple of weeks!"
Really though, the Gold Coast is not a bad place (although I am a little biased!:P ), but the problems seam to get worse every year. The biggest problems are usually caused by the older 'hangers on' who go into Surfers looking to 'pick-up' a school leaver...
Most of the school leaver from the Gold Coast go to Noosa or Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast, so this should give you an idea what the locals think about it.
One of the Schoolies from last year told me that the best part of his schoolies (he went to Surfers) was getting arrested for underaged drinking, but being let off for drinking in public....hmmm

i live about half an hour away from noosa. but the celebrations there arent as big as the goldie. and its not as big a thing if u jump in the car for a short trip for your huge celebration and then come home to sleep. lol:P

...be careful sleeping in your car in Surfers - a couple of guys that I know were charged with...er...something (I've forgotten what exactly) last year for exactly this, apparently its against some sort of law...
Of course if you got out of Surfers and tried the same thing ....

You dont want to come to byron, cant sleep in your car, rangers will get you...and the locals in the surf are pretty scary...Coffs is good i've heard...
yeah i have like a second uncle or something...some weird relation....he was a byron bloke...lived there all his life i think and then moved to brissy.....one day he was telling me about throwing a few punches towards tourists who "stole his wave" and that kinda thing. good thing i dont surf.

uh oh sounds like the nat yound story all over again 😉 i must say u havent met crazy locals till you've surfed sandon point when its going off, those dudes are seriously disturbed like they will bash you some of them cut peoples leashes in the water others just get there mates and bash the stuffin out of you.
byron is understandable with so many tourists passing through but. i usually find my own stretch of tallows ok as its damn long, you may not have the best waves of the day but you'll have them to your self 🙂

I wouldnt do it, but your right, you can find an uncrowded wave somewhere...
not affraid of sharks are you ?
i mean the risks of surfing alone are dangerous so take a mate..... but yeh the uncroweded ones are around just take more lookin for
