bah i browsed through the aussie ebay just now i first searched for "volkswagen" in car parts this generated about 30 items on one page. hmmm thinks me.....i then tryed "VW" and got a similar result. then i thought hey ill see if there is a VDO tacho for my baja on here. i searched for "tacho" and did find a nice smiths tacho however i would like to get VDO. i did find quite a few H series holden dash setups etc . lol. no use to me. then i thought id have a look at the American ebay and i kinda wish i didnt, its a huge tease......not being the owner of a credit card (and having no intentions of getting one) i can only drool over the many VDO guage setups i could be bidding on if i had a small rectangular peice of plastic with a magnetic strip and a few numbers. let alone worrying about shipping and whether they will even ship to OZ!
Just one more way america is pissing me off.......oh well i suppose there would be no ebay if it wasnt for them.

I use my wife's corp card for some vw stuff and sometime I wonder what the company thinks about..."flat4 rack" or "valves adjusted" HUH!(not sure if they see what she buy on the bill though)
Yes,
if You want to buy from the US of A, You need Pay Pal or Mastercard... Visa...
but many people over there will not sell You stuff if the billing address [where the parts go to]
is NOT the same as the card address....
CB Performance is OK for Credit cards ...
Not many sites I have looked at will send by Post...
I would rather wait 4-5 weeks than spend $80 - $150US on Air Freight...
Look at all the VW bits You can buy for $80 - $150US...
I found one VW shop that was selling VW bits I needed cheap but Will NOT take PayPal or Credit Card from people NOT living in the USA...
You have to send an International Money Order to them..
[Post Office $8] ... I'll have to check their freight..
I only look on the International ebay Now & then, as I begin to drool ... looking at those bargains... in $US...
No wonder they can have good looking VWs in the USA...
Best of Luck with that New Credit Card Damien....

Thats the reason behind our idea of bringing in goodies from the UK by the container load. They have stuff on the shelves coz there are literally thousands of people wanting Vdub items, Vanfest attracts 25,000 visitors in the UK.
Here in Aus it has been a smaller scene but give it time and with the level of VW interest already increasing, items should get more accessible. Companies in the UK were very happy to have a distributor in Aus. So please dont despair

One of the main reasons I got a credit card was to buy things on the net. I rarely use it for anything else. It has an interest free period so I just make sure I pay it off every month. The rewards points I accumulate are enough to cover the annual fee, so the card costs me nothing.
I have found that in many cases it's cheaper to buy stuff from the US, either on ebay or from shops, and pay the shipping cost than to buy locally. With the AUD strong at the moment, it's even more competitive. I have found that many Aus based parts retailers are very expensive in comparison, upto twice the price allowing for exchange rates.
Keep in mind that you don't have to pay the seller to ship. You can organise the shipping yourself from this end via DHL or similar, it often works out much cheaper.
Ain't nothin' like the wind in your hair.
