Kombi Fuel consumption

my 2Lt auto kombi is useing about 16/17 litres per 100kms around town is this excessive or about right. haven'tchecked it on a trip yet.

84 caravelle was running great on premium unleaded 11.5/100 but I made the evil experiment of adding a fuel additive to the fuel and the poor engine is choking on it. So back to straight premium unleaded for me.
