Can any one help with a chasis number

I have a beetle with chasis number 2040525 which acording to details below makes it manufactured between 12/57 and 12/58

Also has a number stamped in spare wheel bay 016306 what is this number and what does it relate to?

1954 1-575 415 Oval beetle took over from the split. They had no fuel gauges and used a small kick valve to switch reserve on when fuel was low.

my list says,

between 12/1957 and 12/1958 for that number.

dunno about the other number

could the other number be the body number?
as far as I know, the body number and chassis numbers are different.
