Hi all
I'm new here so please excuse my lack of bug terminology that everyone seems to have ....
I posted this question last night but would like to get some more feedback if possible (please...). I really need help deciding whether to buy .....
How much (max) would you pay for a 71 beetle 1300, mint original condition - no rust, engine perfect, exterior/interior perfect - totally clean and neat. Same owner 30 years.:duh
it all depends on how much it is worth to you. if you like the car and they want some massive price then offer them what you can afford. If they say no then walk away. does it have all orgional recepits and things like that and proof of servicing and origional purchase etc. dannyboy67 just sold his 67 1300 bug in mint condition with a few accessorys for about 6 grand. however i would pay more for his car than a 71 model in the same condition because it is a pre 67 model and so has the older shape that everyone loves. (yes i know some people prefer the new ones) it also had some rare accessorys and chrome 356 wheels etc. so you have to ask yourself if its worth it to you then buy it...........if its not then dont.

so would you (or anyone) pay near 6k??
I am yet to check the full records and rust under the seat etc - but if all checked out (officially) - would you pay 6k or is that way too much. I understand the value is objective - but I just want to know what is going too far....
sorry - previous post should read 'subjective' (not objective)....
i would have paid 6 k for dannyboy's 67 yes have a look in the for sale section for the thread. i dont know about a 71. i think 4 and a half would be my maximum for an origional beetle........the newer ones in my mind gain value from larger engines and aftermarket stuff. whereas the older ones can retain value well and increase in value with origional equipment. thats my 2cents

All two cents appreciated - thanks heaps....
for instance just the other day my girlfreind bought a 71 super beetle which has had a 1500 engine (smaller than it should have) put in it but other than that and a minimal amount of rust in non cruicial places it is a very nice car and has no dents or scratches and is avocado green for 1500 bucks.

hmmm - what to do. Basically, the guy is asking $6500 min - at first I was prepared but now starting to question it. He's pretty confident he will get that (maybe I'm the only sucker!!). No deal has been done so that is why I am asking around.
Thanks dude....
Post some pics of the area etc your worried about, that way we can give you a more informed advice.
Thanks everyone - will try and post some pics at some point....
Any one else got any feedback on price for a 71 vw 1300??
Mint original condition - full service history....
All comments welcome....
Confidence means that he only needs one sucker I suppose.
I'm not good with prices, bargaining etc. I will only pay what I think things are worth. My wife tries to talk people down in price but I'm happy to pay what people ask. Like what said above - too dear and I just leave my number and say call me when it comes down. That way I leave it up to fate - If I was ment to have it it would be /become mine. If not destiny would push the sellers way another buyer.
On the same token I won't get talked down when I sell something. I sell it for the lowest possible price I can afford to so it sells quick.
