Hi guys

We are looking at purchasing a 1971 1300 beetle in top original cond. Mechanics, Exterior & Interior are all A1. Same owner for 30 yrs, full service history - our VW mechanic says "buy".

Question is, we would be paying top dollar (if we get it) and so just wondering if these models retain, or even gain, value if well cared for and remain in original condition?? I get the feeling from this site (and elsewhere) that post 67(?) are not as valuable - but just want to rest assured that we can at least retain value if we look after her....

'71 1300 Beetles are a nice model, make great daily drivers with a few upgrades, eg; front discs, 1600 twin port engine.

As for being collectable, I think any low milage original Beetle is collectable, but if you pay too much for it in the first place, you may not always get your investment back.
(Thats a bit like stating the bleedin' obvious!)

How much would you consider too much - and I'm talking for one that needs no work, looks great, immaculate interior.
