I recently advertised my garage for sale in the local paper, the ad went something like this.
Free to good home, 7m x 5m old style garage, very good condition, must be moved by Wednesday, ph #########
A guy called on Saturday morning and came straight round and a deal was done for him to have it.
Thats O.K. I had about 75 calls over the next 5 days, thats O.K.
The problem I have is I received about 12 text messages off differant people asking me to call them back with details of the garage.
Am I old fashioned or is this O.K..
I think that as the garage was free and I had paid for the ad Why should I call them back and it cost me money, A few sent at least 2 texts asking why I hadnt called them.
I think I must be showing my age.
Cheers
Dave
Nope, I hate that, if they want it they should be calling you!
Damn straight, Im with you on that one.....
Hey
Some PPL just have no idea. Unfortunately thats the way the human race is going. Text them back and say it will now cost them $10.00 for administration fee's

Nah
if they are fussy about something for free... stuff em!! :cussing
'Ah, whatever................'
No, they are rude. But as Robo said, it's the way things are heading.....
Phone ettiquete these days is getting left behind.....
Here's some other phone things that really piss me off :
Companies calling up after hours - ie dinner time (not just cold selling/marketing calls, but actuall companies you deal with - ie banks). They call from India, and if you are not home, they leave a phone no. - but of course, you have to call them back during the day!!!
And - have you ever had the phone call, you answer it, and they have said "this is (whoever) please hold we will be with you shortly" - they call you and put YOU on hold.
Then there is the "we are recording your conversation for training purposes" yeh - right. I want to invent a phone that does to them what they do to us - put them on hold, record their bull*** etc etc
Don't get me started (oops too late) - I hate all the phone bull shit. Your situation is just another unfortunate example...
By the way - in response to my own post - I don't call them back - and I hang up if they call me and it's a hold message when I answer....
(if only it actually made a difference.....)
Nope Dave, plain rude.. friggen tight asses..
THE LOWEST WITH THE MOSTEST BLING BLING WINS!!
me, sms---->"details of the garage"...."its FN free Mate"
...its got to the stage where You have to pay somebody just to come look at it:duh
i like free stuff but if i was gettin ya shed or a car etc 4 free id go in person or at least call u myself
Dave I think it is rude for you not to ring these guys back, after all they were going to do you the service of removing your garage free of charge. Mate you should have taken the garage down for them and delivered all in the free price. Cor blimey mate whats the world coming to. By the way I am interested can you call me regarding this garage on my mobile I might put you on hold while I deal with customers. Is delivery to Qld included and that old vw bus I will take that off your hands too.
oh yeah and I will want to look before I buy so if you supply my airline tickets for me the wife and children, I will come down to view
Sorry Roy but its gone.
If only Id known you were interested.
Sorry.
Cheers
Dave

Yes those pricks are rude, but you are also so old fashioned. You must still have something these arsholes are missing-a conscience-or you wouldn't have bothered to even ask the question???Fxxk em!!!!!!!!
for the record
i work as an office assisstant on and off for fasther dearest and his companies jj cabinets and off road systems. often dad is very busy, needs to make a phone call, but if just finishing something else. he gets me to call the person, and put them on hold for the next few seconds while he takes the last sip of his now cold coffee - the same one i made a few hours ago hes just been too busy to drink it - before he faces yet another customer/stakeholder of any sort
so, as much as it annoys you, think about the guy on the other line. the business man with such a workload on his hands he needs to call people while hes busy doing other things.
but for the record , yeah dont call em back thatd be stupid. ur already giving it to em for free so stuff em if their too lazy to call back later then its their own stupid fault.
i would be annoyed if u didnt call back tho, thats just the way i am :cussing
Daniel
Sorry dude - don't call people and put them on hold - I would say its probably not good for business. I know how I would react. And I'm sure your old man is busy - but so is everyone!!
how about getting put on hold for 20 mins, then answer a call waiting while you're on hold, then get back to the first call after 30 seconds to find the bastards have hung up on you. :cussing
