ok i know this topic should be in the tech section or something but i feel i'll prob get the most help out of this forum section.

I drove my beetle 100miles yesterday and it used 8litre per 100km's of fuel. It was running perfect.

Today, it wont idle at all. Stalls straight away. I have checked the float bowl, its clean enough, the jets are all clean, the fuel pump is fine, fuel filter is all of 3 days old, air filter is a foam ramflow one which is near brand new.... why wont it idle. I have advanced the idle screw almost all the way and it still stalls as soon as u clutch in... whats possibly the problem?

undid the filter on the pump and there is plenty of fuel getting through, and under the foot it goes fine.... just the idle. any suggestions, appart from a match!

thanks in advance for ya help all.

...have you checked for manifold vac leaks? Sounds like you have checked almost everything else, so thats where I would be looking next....

Hope this helps,

what ever it is something is broken.

What i mean is readjusting mixture screw etc wont fix it.

I would start with a base tune up.

re set points and timing

check plugs for fouling.
chec leads etc etc
