hey everyone i just got my 1973 beetle tuned up all new spark plugs and all it was running perfect and ready to drive to busselton on boxing day. but then 2 days after getting the car back from the mechanic it started missfiring. i have checked all the points. but its still missfiring and cant take back to the mechanic because he is on holidays. what could be the cause on it missfiring.

it is important i find the cause because i need to go to busselton on boxing day

cheers

The first thing i would probabally do is take the rotor cap off and make sure she is nice and dry

Is it missing in a certain rev range or under load??

Are the leads pushed on nice and tight??

cheers i took the rotor cap off and yes it was wet and it was running alot betta when i dried it but it was still missfiring i got reall anoyed so i decided to drive it any way and took it for a 30min drive the first 5 min was shocking i even broke down but then after that it was perfect didnt missfire once so i think the heat finished drying all the water.

cheers also the whole area in the cap was full of water bout 1 hour ago i took to the mechanic a differant one and he said it was normal for it to happen when the car has been washed.
