Anyone know any? our club site has just had it's entire forums wiped by these assholes, if anyone on here knows any hackers either give them a kick up the arse from me or else get them to mess up cybermafia.org where this waster resides. Obviously they have no life and no friends to take the time over Christmas to mess up someone elses site, and for what? how can anyone derive enjoyment out of making a large number of people hate them? :cussing

Was it a personal server they hacker into?

Was it up to date patch wise? Were the normal precautions taken? IE changing the admin password on the forums and the pc itself etc etc etc

You can make it very easy for these people......

Sorry to hear about the trouble though.....

We had a client get hacked a week or so ago cause there was a new SQL injection exploit found for PHPBB I believe. This is a very common Forum package and if you don't keep your server patched, lots of script kiddies will try and compromise your site using these exploits.

Chances are your not looking for a smart dude who bothered hacking into your site personally. Chances are your after a bored 15 year old kid sitting at home on school holidays who found out about the exploit (or something like it) and then discovered your site was vunerable.

Sorry to hear the site got hacked, but theres really not a lot you can do. Check the server logs for obvious traces and see if you can do any form of tracing, but it still won't mean much even if you could find out who did it. Apart from that, rebuild from your most recent backup (those things everyone says they should do soon but never gets around to) and patch whatever hole they got in thru.

Out of interest, what was the OS/web server/forum package (if applicable)?
