why a lexus motor. Put a 290 Boss motor in the cortina. :thumb
From day one the TE Cortina especially with the big 6 was over powered, when matched with its underpowered brakes and huge tendency to understeer. A v8 with out major work to brakes and handling is a garenteed accident.
Agreed. Buy a VW! :thumb

Nice. Always makes me laugh, people that do big engines and leave stock gearboxes, diffs, brakes and steering components. Not to mention suspension.

Hey N,
The TC and TD Cortina's look alot better than the squarer TE-TF series...
I know I've seen a few with a 289/302 C4 setup. Similar to the early falcon conversion. Run the 8 3/4 V8 diff....
Whats the ci for the Lexus V8?

may be able to help.
(and that will be $45 + GST for this info thank you! hehe)
an alloy lexus V8 will be stacks lighter than the old cast iron 6. Give it a go, sounds awesome 🙂
I agree with cam, it should be lighter, but you will need a 9" diff if it's gonna last. On the upside this will ad some weight to the back end and even up the weight distribution.
BTW, there's a guy in WA with a 600kw lexus V8 running twin turboes and standard internals. Worth thinking about....:thumb
we are getting 228 kw out of a stock motor & after market computer , big improvment was the headers .
I found a one owner tc today ! its in the shed as new !

It should go well!
A friend of mine has a supercharged lexus V8 and auto in an LJ torana. It drives like a standard car on the street , and it runs 11's.
yeah the 4L lexus v8 is a GREAT motor.
have a look over at

for all crazy 1uzfe conversions.
might help you out a fair bit mate.

how about the fit the lexus v8 is 700mm wide I tried to fit one in a e28 5series there was only 5/10mm to the strut tower and do you need the ecu to run the solinoids on the auto.

I agree, but: Cortina Diff is a BTR unit that is one tough little sucker... have seen them survive for years under 12 second street cars unmodified. Big brakes are a bolt-on with a kit from Castlemaine Rod Shop... and a late-model EFI Ford Windsor Mustang five-oh V8 (ie: XR8 engine) is also a bolt-in with a kit... I'm a Torana man but I reckon a little injected V8 Corty would be fun
