Photoshoping number plates

Why do a lot of people photoshop their number plates out before posting images of their cars on the web? Is there some scam going on that I dont know about that you need to protect yourself from? It seems like plenty of strangers see our cars and our plates everyday on the street so why not on the web?

some people worry they can be tracked down via their rego.. but your right, anyone on the road can see it.. so why bother? unless your a kid.. in which case you prolly dont have a car 🙂

Its because being a WWW site any scumbag from around the world can trace where your car is garaged. And when you have a $60.000.00 23 window splitty or a pristine Oval it is worth making it as hard as you can for those rats!

i have always smudged plates because i used to follow the so called high peformance imports and a lot of people are always scared that some cop could track their car doing somthing wrong :| force of habbit i guess :alien
