Hi,
How long would this trip take in a Kombi and how much would it cost in juice on average? Solo driver and Kowalski mindset, no sightseeing on the way. 4 days? $500?
Cheers

2 days Perth to Adelaide, and then an extra day Adelaide to Sydney ?

I've never driven adelaide to sydney personally, so cant comment on that section.

Perth to Adelaide in 2 days is two 14 hour days with more than 1 driver. I'd say three days for that section would be safer. I've only ever done it with a couple of other drivers (in a landcruiser usually), though I have done it a few times.

My old man and my brother drove Canberra to Perth (3900km) in 3 days... but they were very well motivated (relationship breakup to get away from you see).

I'd say 4 days.

At about 11 or 12 L/100km, and approx 4100kms (according to google), thats about 41 x 12 = 492L of fuel you'll use. The price will probably average out to around $1 per liter, or slightly higher - so $500 on fuel alone is probably right.

Then there is your food, drinks and the kombi service at the other end to take into account !!!

We recently drove a Tarago (hire car) from Perth to Port Augusta (2500kms) (300k's from Adelaide) and that took 25hrs pretty much non stop. The whole trip Perth to Port Augusta then back to Perth (5000kms) we used about $500 worth of fuel. I did the same trip in a V6 magna 3yrs ago and that used about $500 worth of fuel then.

You would be doing very well if you can get to the WA / SA border in one day (about 1700kms). I would avoid getting fuel inbetween Caiguna and Mundrabilla as it was $1.48 per litre along there.

If you stick to 100kmh (at least) you should get to Sydney in 3 days.

Cheers. The $812 I've been quoted to get it sent over road/rail seems more appealing. Bollocks to the drive on my own.

Looks like I'll be off in a month or so and have to start umming and arring about my notch. Sydney job comes with a car, pointless having three though I love that motor.

1820cc, spare bonnet/boot lids, Kurt in Freo sorted the mechanics out lovely about a year ago, full set of cal-look rubbers to go on... It's a 66/67 model with push button doors and petrol filler in the boot. Mint headlining, immobiliser...front disk conversion and 4 stud all round. I'll post up an ad soon, got some thinking to do.
