Can you still buy hella tail light lenses for a 68/69 beetle?

I bought some at one of the shows that were not hella and they are crap. They don't seal against the housing and water will get in so I want better ones.

I did hear that you could get them in the UK so if anybody knows, can you share it?

Thanks

I have the same problem Yogie....
Mexican ones are worse.....
Brazillian not much better....
I believe that You can still buy genuine ones from
Vintage Vee Dubs in Sydney
There are 4 or 5 different brands of tail lamps about Yogie..
I couldn't believe the 2 different brands I have....
The mexican made ones just wouldn't fit on at all.....
The brazillian ones not much better.... maybe with silastic...

I just remembered that i had bought in a pair from CIP1 in the USA... their brand is FORTLUZ.... which isn't actually stamped on them at all.. only on the packing...
the mexican ones have all the letters and numbers on the lens which makes them look original...
I haven't tried the USA bought ones as yet.....
I have seen others with a cogged wheel emblem on them...
I don't know where they come from....
The Hella ones are quite expensive compared to the others,
but why make something if it won't fit????

I saw on a brazillian company website, front blinker lens assemblies complete with rubber etc.... and it said that the parts didn't match the originals, so You had to use the complete assembly..... they probably do the same with the tail lamps.... You would need everything.... Bloody stupid !!

Classic Vee Dubs [Pacific] have them as they import mainly from Europe.... classicvwpacific@aol.com

the original amber/red part number is 111 945 241L
with clear part at the bottom [what I use] 111 945 241M

Best of Luck...

If you go to to the Hella.co.uk site, they have links you can follow that say they have a limited amount of stock of them but not where you can buy them.

I might try Vintage Vee Dub and Classic VW and if they don't have them, maybe Status VW in the UK.

I am not sure of the brand of these but I am with you Lee. Why bother going to the trouble of making them if they don't fit when with a little effort in the beginning they would fit. Mine seem to have the clear reversing light section a little closer to the mount point than the red and amber sections. This creates a bow in the lip where it is supposed to meet and so lets in water. All in all, pretty crappy and good money wasted. I would rather pay for the ones that fit once than waste my money on this crap.
