there are pics in the other threads, ill probably post this in them too, but meh its special enough to get its own as well.
In the bible, the Lord rested on the seventh day...
But as for Flat Four, we were meeting at narellan Mcdonalds for a cruise to Custom Bugs and Busses' Free dyno day! a tidy cruise neatly blending old and new with Steve and Murray's Caravelles, Paul's beetle restoration debut was a hit, stuart in his ever-so-stunning racer, and my own little baby kikko... well it runs! The drive down was very smooth, if you don't count that we got lost twice. when we arrived at CBB we knew we were in for a great day of bugs, busses, dynos and reds diner.
As the day progessed from sunny, to hot, to scorching, so did the quality and power of cars being tested. Even non-VW cars turned up to join in the festivities, including some very nice harleys and hot rods. Dave becker's Call look beetle pumped an astonishing 134 horses, or 100 kilowatts in that newfandangled system, (dont get me started on what happened when i gave the canteen man 5 shillings for my kebab...) Murray suprised all with 80 horses from his ute, and stewart was awarded red's dub of the day. Now it was time for what we had all been waiting for: CBB had promised us a methanol drinking beast to run the dyno (I bet you all thought it was steve) and what a show it was... blowing records and eardrums with an amazing 250+ horsepower.
As most left just after midday i decided to stay on along with stewart to see what else was to arrive, and as terribly burnt as i was afterwards, it certainly was worth it, with a bestly orange baja running the most powerful street registered beetle of the day with 157. It was then that i decided Kikko needed her legs stretched, and a few seconds later she was on the rollers blowing more smoke than the drag car and running an incredibly low 28... Well it runs! Come 4pm it was time for even us die-hard horsepower fans to head home, but not before dave becker ran again, this time with stinger attached which added another 5, not bad at all!
as i headed home, face burning, ears ringing, i couldn't help but think that there is no better way i would have spent my sunday. Thanks to Custom Bugs and Busses for opening their brand new store and putting on a brilliant day, Reds diner for some great tucker, and all who participated in the dyno day for making such a hot day worthwhile.
