I had a guy come today and look at my bug and said 69 is the best year after inquiring the year and looked at the car and then said is it a 4 or 5 speed gearbox then proceded to open the the bonnet to look for the "reringed" engine I don't know about you guys but I kind of wonder "what the" when did beetles grow a 5th gear and when were the engines at the front of the car was he taking the piss or clueless? :jesus

Pay your debts, CxxT
thought so why waste someones time if yo have no idea
probably a bit unfair if you re a beginner but shouldn't be so harsh but has any one else had the same experience with selling
I had a similar thing happen not so long ago Emma , when a young guy came to look at a beetle that I was selling . When he lifted the front bonnet and asked me where was the engine , I replied " some bastards stolen it !!" It wasn't until I showed him where the engine is that he saw the funny side to my remarks . He then wanted to know where to put the water , so I showed him the washer bottle .:jesus

i find my friends are still kind of puzzled by the idea of a rear engined car with two boot spaces (type 3) 🙂
they ask "so where is the engine again?" knowing that it isnt in the front but unsure where else it could be 🙂
:bounce
When shopping one day there was a lady and little boy sitting in front of where we parked the car. We started loading the groceries into the front boot (Type 3) and little boy was standing on the chair watching us telling his mum that there wasn't an engine and how did we drive the car. So we took him to the back boot and showed him that we didn't have an engine. He was soooooo confused. Then we told him to have a look around the car to see if he could find it.......and then he saw it............... His mum was killing herself laughing!!!!!!!!!! - He was just so excited!!!!!!
If you can't laugh at yourself you can't laugh at anyone else! Because life is to short not to LAUGH
one of my fathers law collegues used to own a beetle. wasnt 'til she broke down on the side of the road and opened the bonnet to have a look that she realised where the engine was (hate to think how long she had owned it beforehand)

hahahah.. these stories are great. My neighbour who sees me working on the car all the time always cracks the same joke when he sees my front bonnet opened.. "still looking for the engine, eh!?"...

VW no more... sigh.... well, at least it's a cousin
I had some guy come up to me in a nightclub carpark one night...I think he was trying to get my number cause he offered to sell me "parts" for my bug, the top of the list was a radiator....then he tapped the front and said....bet you've got something nice under there.
You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it enjoy the view
one day one of my friends asked me why i was pouring fuel straight out of the jerry can into the engine. he also wondered how i could chop the front with the engine there...
early 60s beetle for sale - ex bush basher - spares - $100 or offers
i had the same lady walk up to me a few months apart telling me she had a car just like mine (late type 3) and how bad it was to keep. I told her how simple it was and some stupid people are easy to rip off at the mechanics, and it has and will obviousely outlast her newer hunk'o'junk. i did it in a pleasant manner so she went away thinking and so when the penny dropped she felt stupid 🙂 which she was she told me the same thing withing 3 or 4 months...........
