They "restored" a perfectly rusty flatscreen 1303 into a buggy.
Gotta say the end result was awesome. I just wish they didn't use a sledgehammer to get off easily repairable panels. I've seen worse rust in some of the restores done here, and it was awful seeing them take the car apart.
I have them on my Tivo, so I'll try to get it off there and on to my computer. I've had no luck getting such programs onto DVD as a video DVD so far.
I have a 1.5 GB MPEG 2 file for the 1 hour program from a few weeks ago (full TV resolution, digital transfer, full bit rate = DVD quality), so I assume that these two half hour programs will end up being about the same size.
Andrew
I will post you some dvd's and chuck them on there, i dont mind watching videos on the puter :P
I saw the second part. I couldn't believe the guy hammered off the guards.
The end result was indeed pretty cool, except that I thought it looked a little odd without a rollbar behind the seats.
If I remember correctly they didn't end up using very much of the original car. The pan was pretty rough so they got a new pan and front beam.
Isn't a flatscreen 1303 a 1302?:duh
I'm not sure with UK Bugs. Anyone?
Andrew
Flat screen is the 1302
1303 is the curved screen
steff........................
Life with out a v-dub is no life at all!!!!!
what about "junkyard wars" when the 2 teams had to make cranes from scrap to recover some wrecks from over a cliff, what were the wrecks?-just a pair of kahman ghias, pulled apart but complete. one guy speared his javelin straight thru a door boot lids seemed straight until being attacked...bahh...........
I watched and taped the first week. I was out last Sunday and got home too late to see the second episode. I was spewing when I got home and realised I missed it.
Hopefully the Discovery channel reapeats it at some stage or a copy turns up on the net. Was really looking forward to seeing how the buggy turned out.
Really good show I reckon, even when they're not doing VW's.
