we have a R32 Golf sitting at work.. in need of some major work!

and not a drop of filler in it anywhere!!

VW's painting department in germany blows.. and quite often we get cars coming in all transparent here and there, that need fixing under VW warranty..

but this r32 takes the cake! from factory it had been painted FOUR TIMES! i suppose because it is 65ish k worth of car, they wanted it to look decent.. thing is they didnt rub the car down after each time it was painted!

then the windows were stuck in over the fourth "round" of paint, the glue was sticking to the paint.. but the paint wasnt sticking to the car! rear windscreen almost fell out..

anyway i spent the last 3 days paint stripping the whole car back to bare metal, (minus the doors, and tailgate - they're for next week) and got it all in primer this morning!!

what quality hey?

anyway the point of the story is if your going to buy a brand new VW, have a good hard look at the paint, because if you pick it before you buy, then you can most likley get it fixed under warranty, and will make the car easier match the colour, if you do have an accident, so you are less likley to see the blends in your panels!

yeah not good at all.. one of the tradesmen tried to tell me the best way to fix it was to use thinners.. i just laughed at him.. wen he had stone guard sprayed on his "yanno" as an apprentice they told him to get it off with thinners

Hi Damien,
Well You need a mask to spray paint a car..

So, I presume You would need one for paint remover.....

they are both probably dangerous to Your Lungs etc...

{well, I know paint is]

They wouldn't rub down when spraying New cars as they are all done by robots.. and robots just Hate rubbing down things...🙂🙂
they are probably sprayed before the 1st coat is dry... ??
and then all the paint baked on.....??

anyway an R32 is a bit too pricey for most of Us... IMHO...

Golfs are probably made in the old Beetle factories in Emden & Wolfsburg....
Ever see the photos of the Golf and Beetle bodies on the one production line.... in Wolfsburg ??
