This is the area located inside where the vents are above the engine...looks like someone has tried to drill holes in it maybe to put a brake light in there? What a stupid idea though! Right where all of the engine gases can come into the car! Check out the piccy below you may know what im talking about...
Does anyone have any clever ideas on how my partner and I can fix this? We thought maybe putting a plate over it from the inside and filling in the holes with bog on the outside. But this will be difficult because of the small space to work with on the outside (because the vents are in the way and underneath are more vent from the engine!), and we may not be able to sand the bog properly. Can anyone suggest anything?

Can you get a new one ???
I am SO into throwing everything away !
🤘
hehe, I can't do that now because I have just put lots of money into this lil baby! :P
get a piece of brass rod (must be brass), say the diameter of a 10-20coin. grind the end so it is at the right angle to hold it flat against that inner panel. Hold it over the hole on the outside and weld up the hole from the inside of the car. The weld is smooth where the brass was and you can grind the inside back.
My painter told me that's how they weld up pin holes in panels, with a brass dolly. I've done it with holes about that size and it and it works well.

as pete says and you can use copper as well as it dont stick to the weld and helps take some of the heat away, just get a piece big enough to fit through the vents and angle the top so it fits flush with the panels🙂

still have to get in there to be able to grind/sand smooth. What about anice polished stainlees plate that you coul possibly mount a small third brake light to from inside the vented section. Access would still be a problem depending on what size plate you would need to cover holes. Just a suggestion.

actually, im interested to know how they thought they could get a brake light in there...
stupid idea for sure, but does pose an interesting challenge seeing as how theres no way to get a brake light in unless you cut something out...
in the beginning, the universe was created.
this made alot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.
My bf said they were attempting to mount the rear break light on the rear deck inside the car! They would have had just enough room to put a spanner through the vents to tighten the bolts from the outside.
GOOD IDEA pete and pod! We are going to steal some copper from the shed and do that...I have been so frustrated thinking as what we could do because I didn't wanna leave it as a dodgy set of holes. (My bf calls me a prefectionist but I don't think I am!! lol) But we will give it a go.
And yes fossil, when I discovered this I thought who would do such a thing! I can just picture them sitting on the back seat with the drill, oooh it makes me sick!
Anyways, thanx for all your advice people...if anyone has anything else to add please go ahead.

just repaired my shipping container 11mths ago
with
1) rust coverter brushed onto damage
2)knocked treated timber into holes -some big enough to put a hammer handle through.
3) seal around wooden plugs and smaller holes ie. your drill hole diameter with liquid nails!!!
4) smooth it over with a cloth using kero, paint thinners or even eucalyptus oil. wipe clean
5) touch up with paint
should take 5 mins and really holds and my container is vermin proof.
if dodgy at first try...let it dry and repeat the exercice.
Cost about 30 cents and will last
