Hi There,
I am an absolute novice in the VW world but am hoping for some initiation. I fell in love with Ghia's a few years ago but I know nothing about them.

I do want to buy one but it won't be for at least a year. Untill then I'd love any advice on the best models, and what the major problems are.

Ideally I want to buy one that doesn't need much work, especially mechanically, is $15000-$20000 what I can expect to pay for a good solid car, not necessarily in mint condition?

Also, what are your thoughts on soft tops? do they leak or cause excessive noise?

Thanx in advance! 🙂

if you want a 'vert, make sure you get a factory one.
I've seen a couple of angle grinder convertibles, and yes, they leak like sieves.

My preference is the 1960's models up until the US made them fit larger Turn signals ,rear lights and type3 large bumpers.
Mine is having the bodywork done at the Mo,one thing is worth noteing is these cars are hand built and do need a little help$$ when doing the bodywork, you know what I mean$$.
Some parts are really easy to come by, but front lights for example are really hard to find.
