I love going beach fishing. Spending every available weekend and all school holidays in the family caravan down at Gerringong (NSW South Coast) led to many an early morning or late afternoon fish off the beach wth my father and/or grandfather. Unfortunately I haven't been fishing for a VERY long time 🙁 I would love to go fishing again but I've got no one to go with so I just watch all the fishing shows on TV and pretend.

I use to go out Waroona way to the dam there and catch redfin perch. Realy nice to eat and are considered a pest so no size limit. Best cooked ASAP skin then filet rap in foil with a bit of butter cook on trangia for a few minites yummm.
I like the freshwater fishing with spiners and lures etc. No bate to go of and stink up the place and its just nice waiding the banks.

i like beach fishing sometimes..
i used to have/work a bay trawler, 38 footer..
lots of fishing fun at first... but
it turned into lots of constant hard work that never seemed to stop.. 😠
nowadays i like to fish for another stubby in the esky on the da beach with/without bait..not too worried.. and watch the world go bye..
it just doesn't happen frequently enough tho..🙁

i enjoy fishing for the new fry in my fishtank...
i can get catches of up to 12 small fry every 2 weeks depending on who gets eaten.

much as i love the taste of seafood, i do not eat it as i am a vego... and i feel bad eating fish if im trying to save my new baby fish.

i used to love fishing with my dad, we would get some great flathead and whiting most of the time!

i fish for fry in my fishtank so the little ones dont get eaten by their parents!
that way they can grow to be parents and perpetuate the cycle.

Werri Beach is where the caravan park is. My family still has a van there, 1st row, behind the new 'fancy' cabins. I started going there when I was 2 weeks old, My parents met down there and both their parents had been going there for a long time too. Kind of a family tradition. I am hoping I can share the love of werri with my kids too.
When I was a kid the annex was on sand..... right up where the dunes are now but due to erosion and tides we had to be moved back.
Also went prawning at Gerroa.

I've always loved fishing.Growing up in central London at first appeared to have its drawbacks but we could catch a train to practically anywhere but once I had my 1st beetle it was even better. Since being in Oz it's now even better as all 3 sons are into it and James my eldest is fanatical, only 15 and ahs about 12 rods!!! Next weekend I'll be taking all 3 to the barra lake at Bli Bli- really good fun and you're practically guaranteed to catch a big one.

I don't have any pics but when I was about 6 years old I went fishing in my grandfathers boat with my grandfather and my father. I was the only one that caught a fish that day. The story was told in the family and was heard by a friend Dan McKerrieker who had a fishing show on the radio. He retold the story and finished with the line "Well done Rachael" (in a think scottish accent). My family still say that to me and I'm 29 now.

...I skewed it and voted other just to peep at what others vote for...I don't fish..can't stay still long enough...I do like to look at what others have caught as I pass by on a walk down a pier or along a beach

My dad used to take us to station pier as kids...we caught an old boot once...but usually seaweed and puff fish...

BUT the whole fishing thing fascinates me...it is nice to see people out there doing it... it's a whole other culture...but I'm happy to walk while the fishings done

I spent many hours watching men from a fishing village in Western Samoa....it was like a meditation....the first day they were out in their canoes....circling around the school of fish...they drifted...some would move out of the circle....then back in....some went home...others stayed...

The next day they were in the water with a net....walked along the beach...one group with the net went in the water and did a semi circle...another group were just down the beach...the ones without the net started moving toward the net...driving the fish into the net....they made palm leaf baskets and I was given one...we had fish for breakfast lunch and dinner...

I found out that the chief of the village...who I saw standing on the point...tells the men what fish to catch that day...he stands and watches and can tell....

It was incredible 😎

..yes I like my fish caught for me...I could live on the stuff

My brother and his out-laws live at Coffs Harbour.

They look their trawler cum game boat out near Split Solitary Island.

Bloody noah jumped into the boat. They had to shoot the bastard. Got a pretty penny for it back at the co-op.

A couple of things suprise me is- 1) Lead is still allowed to be used for weights (it was outlawed in the UK about 20 years ago) and 2) the amount of fishing line left around the place. I mean all that these things do is eventually destroy your enjoyment. I know non-lead sinkers are now available but you have to look pretty hard to find them and up here Noosa council put special bins for discarded fishing line but both measures shouldn't be necessary but I suppose with a country as big as Oz it would be very difficult to police it. Oh and another thing the bait is always in plastic bags, might be me but it seems pretty daft.

Out-laws as in in-laws. They are moving to Nana Glen shortly as the by pass is going to go through their current back yard (and apparently the RTA were quite generous with their acquisition offer).

Yeah it was a Mako out a Split Solitary.
